Why We Created Diaspora Primary Care
Healthcare, with the whole person in mind.
Diaspora Primary Care was created from a shared belief that good healthcare requires more than treating symptoms. It requires time, context, collaboration, and an understanding of the person sitting on the other side of the exam room.
We kept seeing the same problem from different sides of healthcare.
Mental health was treated separately from physical health. Appointments were rushed. Patients were navigating multiple providers who rarely communicated with one another. And too often, culture, identity, lived experience, and the realities of someone’s everyday life were treated as peripheral rather than relevant to their health.
Diaspora Primary Care grew from the idea that we could build something more connected. By bringing primary care and behavioral health together, we’re creating a practice where prevention, physical health, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, gender-affirming care, and ongoing support can exist within the same healthcare ecosystem. We want our patients to know their providers, understand their care, ask questions, and have a meaningful voice in the decisions being made about their health.
Healthcare shouldn’t require you to leave parts of yourself at the door.
